THE NO DOG SEQUEL

So granted that I've devoted hank's primarily to the carnivore but hell I even go veggie once in a while.  So as another version of my good friend Jenn's "No Dog" concept, Monday's special will be MEDITERRANEAN NO DOG.  Grilled eggplant, onion, tomato, roasted red pepper and melted mozzarella cheese in a warm bun topped with our killer chipotle mayo.   

It's making me feeling good about myself just thinking about it!

YO! WHO LIKES IT HOT?

Well I had a hank-ering for something spicy and it's been a while since we've had hot links so we're do'em on Monday.  Spicy beef link sausage with tangy barbeque-mustard sauce, raw onion and hot sport peppers for any extra kick.  Fire your tongue up folks!

PIZZA DOG ENCORE

The current Honolulu Magazine's piece on us stirred up more cries for the Pizza Dog we did back in January (see 1/24 post).  So it's back, grilled fresh Italian Sausage, zesty pizza sauce, sauteed green peppers and toasted Mozzarella cheese.  Ciao down baby, it's mondo delicioso!

FINDING KELLNER

So this Australian, Yair Kellner, goes missing in subzero temperatures for four days in Alaska during one of the most difficult bike races imaginable, the 350 mile Iditerod Trail Invitational .  In their search did they bother to ask me, nooooooo. He was sitting at hank's in Waikiki with his wife Inna having a haute dog!  OK, so they had found him already.  He just knows where to go when you need to defrost.   He was wondering that should it happen again whether we deliver... ahhh, not!

BURGERS R HAUTE DOGS TOO....

Since we have the Burger Dog mentioned in Honolulu Magazine this week, let's bring it back for this Monday's Special. It's all about the seasoning for me, I love Maggi's Seasoning on beef and when charred up on the grill there's nothing better to me. Pile on your favorite toppings and you got something great to bite into.  So drop on by see what I'm talking about. It's crazy man!

Well it's great to see some recognition to those who do all the work around hank's. In this case my son Michael who runs all the operations at Coral St. Drop by and say hi to the Main Man in the news!

FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH…

Opps a little late but it the first Monday of the month and you know what that means!... Italian Beef, get there soon before we sell out!

But besides that I also decided to make an old favorite recipe of mine from the days when I atarted cook. The year is 1977, I quit my job as a fire protection design engineer to become a cook at Café Figaro in Chicago. Debbie Majic was the chef, or in those days, just considered a cook at here European Cafe. In my opinion though, she was one of the best and part of the initiation of fine cuisine in Chicago. One of my most memorable recipe of hers was Chocolate Cheesecake, a creamy double chocolate cheesecake in a chocolate cookie crust. Lighter in texture than most it is most definitely a pure chocolate delight.

Making variations of finer dishes I’ve experienced in my career has been one of desires for hank’s. Partly selfish, partly latent cooking desires, I love bringing these recipes to Hawaii. Be there this Monday to share in some my passions.
